Anxiety

We know how miserable it is to suffer from anxiety and stress, that state of always feeling on edge or panicked, unable to relax or rationalise how you feel. It’s debilitating and destabilising – but the good news is our hypnotherapy for anxiety sessions in Bryanston can help.

Why is Anxiety such a common Problem?

At low levels anxiety can help us stay focused and mentally alert. It helps us remember our passports at an airport, to remember to lock the doors when going away or to perform at our very best in an interview. In excess however and when anxiety becomes constant it can be crippling for the sufferer.

We have such a fast-moving pace of life and are under enormous pressure to deliver both professionally and personally. We are generally so “busy” and time poor and many of us simply do not know how to just sit still and take a breath. People are being asked to produce more with less resource more than at any time in the past.

Unfortunately, most of us do not have the internal mechanisms to deal with the pressures of a modern world.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is the body’s natural response to threat triggered by the sympathetic nervous system, often known as the fight or flight response and produces the following effects: Increase in heart rate, the brain becomes highly alert, rapid breathing rate, increased blood sugar levels, sweating and more.

Anxiety Symptoms include:

  • Overwhelming feelings of panic
  • Restlessness
  • Feelings of going crazing and losing control
  • Easily fatigued
  • Chest pain
  • Heart palpitations
  • Feeling that you are about to pass out
  • Hyperventilation
  • Dissociation
  • Hair Pulling
  • Stuttering
  • Trauma
  • Shaking or trembling
  • Bruxism

Why is it important to treat anxiety?

Research has shown that prolonged periods of anxiety, if left untreated, can morph into depression. If you have been struggling with anxiety for over five years, then you are a strong candidate for clinical depression. It is extremely important that you tackle this problem head-on. Avoiding it means you risk significant and much more debilitating consequences down the track.
